Website Re-launch – Barxiii.com

Bar XIII didn’t need a redesign but we gave them one anyway, what was needed was to get them off an old WordPress theme and onto something more modern.  We had been using VenueX for the better part of four years and the publisher of the theme had stopped making updates some time ago.  That’s a common problem with themes and so it’s important to stay on top of the issues that crop up every time WordPress updates.  We also took advantage of moving the host from Godaddy to WPEngine.  If any of you are familiar with Godaddy its reputation and abilities have been in severe decline for some time.  We are migrating all of our websites away and onto the WPEngine platform which is a much better home for the website.

Other than a visual update barxiii.com got a technological update on the backend.  We’re using the most advanced version of the Events Plugin, integrated Untapped to list out our current craft beers on tap and on deck, as well as a soon-to-be-released Booking calendar for event organizers.

Behind the curtain we now have a free SSL certificate, daily backups of the website (up to 30 days worth), the ability to create a Staging Site (for working on experimental upgrades and plugins without affecting the Live version of the website), and an advanced network that increases security as well as load times.
